Mrs. Lane's students in Animal Science are gaining valuable real-world knowledge while developing strong collaboration and critical thinking skills. During a recent lesson focused on safely handling livestock, students were fully engaged in interactive, student-centered learning.
Students rotated through carefully designed stations; each aligned to the lesson objective. Students read and annotated text connected to safe livestock handling and then applied their learning through structured tasks. Students helped design and create the station activities themselves, taking ownership of their learning experience.
A highlight of the lesson was the “Think-Pair-Share” discussion on animal behavior. The conversation naturally connected classroom learning to real life, as students reflected on their own pets and considered how human behavior such as stress can influence animals. We are proud of the hands-on learning taking place in Animal Science!
